Gel Sol Synthesis
Modern Aspects of Main Group Chemistry The last twenty years has seen a resurgence in main-group chemistry, from the fundamental breakthroughs involving multiple bonding in silicon, phosphorus, and other heavier elements to the present-day applications in materials and nanotechnology. Main-group compounds are used in the synthesis of nano- and mesoporous materials via sol-gel methods (particularly in silicate chemistry), and in the preparation of materials such as boron nitrides and chemically modified single-walled nanotubes. Ceramics and dense materials are almost all made using oxides, carbides, nitrides, or borides. Inorganic polymers, such as polyphosphazenes; semiconductor group 13-15, 14-16 compounds; coatings; catalystsall are important aspects of main-group chemistry. The contents of this book cover a broad range of main-group chemistry, from the fundamental to the applied.
Sol gel - Sol gel is a colloidal suspension of silicon dioxide that is gelled to form a solid. The resulting porous gel then is chemically purified and fired at high temperatures into high purity silica. Sample-based synthesis - Sample-based synthesis is a form of audio synthesis that can be similar in structure to either subtractive synthesis or additive synthesis. The principal difference with sample-based synthesis is that the seed waveforms are sampled sounds or instruments instead of fundamental waveforms such as the saw waves of subtractive synthesis or the sine waves of additive synthesis. Freeze casting - Freeze casting, or 'freeze-gelation' is a form of sol-gel processing of ceramics that enables a ceramic object to be fabricated in complex shapes, without the need for high-temperature sintering. Electrospinning - Electrospinning is a process by which fibers are drawn out from a viscous polymer/composite/sol-gel solution or melt by applying an electric field to a droplet of the solution (most often at a metallic needle tip). The electric field draws this droplet into a structure called a Taylor cone.

Inorganic Phosphors: Compositions, Preparation, and Optical Properties addresses practical and technical foundation that can be used in commercial and academic research and development of new phosphors and phosphor applications. Authors Yen and Weber expand on the core research of Willi Lehmann and present the synthesis of phosphors in a cookbook style featuring nearly 300 recipes using the most up-to-date guidelines and methods to yield optimum light output, such as gel sol synthesis.
